NTN Bearing Corporation of America launched the Bower Type E bearing unit in January this year. These bearing units are designed to meet the most delicate applications while providing excellent performance.
The Bower Type E bearing unit incorporates a one-piece sturdy cast iron housing with elongated mounting slots and features a spherical roller bearing insert that allows for +/- 2 degrees of misalignment. These units also feature a set screw locking collar, machined brass retainer, double-lip heavy contact seal with metal shield, and an extended inner ring. They are available in sizes ranging from 1 7/16” to 4 15/16” pillow blocks and either 2-bolt or 4-bolt configurations. Its housing footprint is a direct drop-in interchange with other Type E pillow block units.

Since the spring of 2018, NTN has tested 11 pieces of Bower Type E bearing units with the help of end users in various industries. They ran smoothly at each site for 16+ months, which means at least 2.5x longer life compared to the replaced bearing units. The product has proven its effectiveness in delicate industries such as wood processing, mining, cement and steel production, and construction.
